Haryana (The Uttam Hindu): The Haryana government has approved the new collector rates for land and property, which will be implemented from August 1. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has signed off on the proposal, after which appointments for new property registrations across tehsils have been stopped between July 29 and 31. Only those registries will be processed during this period that were already scheduled earlier. A formal communication is being sent to all district collectors regarding the implementation of the new rates.

Although earlier the Revenue Department had put the revision on hold, the decision is now final. According to rules, the revised rate list should be made public at least a month in advance to allow time for objections and suggestions, but this procedure was skipped. In 2024, collector rates were hiked between 12% and 32%, with major increases in districts like Gurugram, Faridabad and Sonipat. Due to high land prices in the NCR region, these districts are expected to see a higher jump this time as well.

The revision had been pending for several months due to the Lok Sabha elections and administrative delays. Some districts had independently proposed hikes between 10% and 25%, although no such instruction was issued by the state. The last official revision happened in December 2024, and the new rates for the financial year 2025–26 were supposed to be implemented from April 1 but got delayed.
