Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Haryana government has announced winter holidays in all government and recognised schools across the state due to the continued cold wave and falling temperatures. The Directorate of School Education issued an official order on Tuesday regarding this decision.

As per the order, all schools from Class 1 to Class 12 will remain closed from January 1 to January 15, 2026. Schools will reopen normally on January 16, 2026.

The Education Department clarified that regular classes will not be held during the winter break. However, Class 10 and Class 12 students may be called to schools for practical examinations, in accordance with the guidelines issued by CBSE, ICSE and other respective boards. Schools have been directed to strictly follow the board instructions in this regard.

The Directorate of School Education has instructed all district education officers and school managements to ensure strict compliance with the orders. The department stated that the decision has been taken keeping in mind the health and safety of students, so that children do not face difficulties while commuting during extreme cold conditions.
