Haryana Women’s Commission summons Singer Masoom Sharma after controversy, new trouble after Rapper Badshah row
Haryana Women Commission summons singer Masoom Sharma over alleged objectionable remarks in Dehradun, days after the Badshah controversy, sparking fresh debate on artists and accountability.

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): After the recent controversy involving Badshah, another singer has come under scrutiny in Haryana. Singer Masoom Sharma has now been issued a notice by the Haryana State Women Commission over allegations of using objectionable language during a public event in Dehradun.
The Commission has taken serious note of the matter, with Chairperson Renu Bhatia issuing a summons directing the singer to appear before it on the 18th at 11 AM. The notice, sent via email, requires his personal presence for questioning. The Commission emphasized that under the Haryana State Women Commission Act, 2012, it has the authority to investigate matters related to violations of women's dignity and rights. It also warned that failure to appear may lead to further action.
Earlier, Dehradun Police had also issued a notice in the case following a complaint filed by four councillors. The issue gained traction after a video of the alleged incident went viral on social media.
Responding to the controversy, Masoom Sharma released a video apology. He stated that he had been under stress due to harassment by an unknown individual, which affected his behavior on stage. He added that he regrets his words if they hurt anyone.
This is not the first time the singer has faced allegations. In 2024, he was accused of assault by a woman, and in 2025, he faced criticism for allegedly promoting gun culture through his songs. Despite controversies, his tracks such as Tuition Badmashi Ka, Numberi, Jap Naam Bhole Ka, Bhagat Aadmi, and Thekedaar Ka Byah have gained significant popularity.
