Senior IPS Officer Y. Puran Kumar Laid to Rest with Full State Honours

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): Senior Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar was cremated with full state honours at the Sector 25 crematorium today, nine days after his tragic demise. The funeral procession, which began at 3 pm from his residence, was attended by a large number of police, administration, and government representatives, who paid their last respects to the departed officer.
Puran Kumar's two daughters lit the funeral pyre, while his wife, IAS Amneet P. Kumar, was present at the scene, overcome with grief. Cabinet Ministers Krishna Lal Panwar and Shyam Singh Rana, ACS (Home) Sumita Mishra, CS Anurag Rastogi, and newly appointed DGP OP Singh also attended the ceremony.
Earlier today, Puran Kumar's postmortem was conducted at the Chandigarh PGI, with the entire process videographed in the presence of a magistrate. The procedure took approximately four hours, and the body was brought to his residence in Sector 24 at 2:20 pm.
Puran Kumar, a 2001-batch IPS officer, had shot himself at his government bungalow in Chandigarh on October 7, leaving behind a nine-page note alleging caste-based discrimination and harassment by senior officials.
