Cloudburst Wreaks Havoc in Dalhousie: Bridges Collapse, Vehicles Washed Away in Floodwaters

Chamba (The Uttam Hindu): An incident of cloudburst has been reported in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. According to the information, the drain overflowed due to cloudburst at a place called Talai on the Dalhousie-Talai road. Due to which, three to four four-wheelers and some two-wheelers got washed away in the flood in Guniyala village.
The drains of Banikhet in Talai are also overflowing. Water and mud have reached inside the houses situated near the drains. A prison also came under the grip of flood in Talai due to cloudburst. Due to landslide, the road from Subhash Chowk to Gandhi Chowk in Dalhousie has been blocked. At the same time, a bridge collapsed due to flood in the drain in Devidehra Rock Garden and the crematorium has also come under the grip of flood. Due to the collapse of the bridge, the movement of people in the vicinity has stopped. People are in panic after seeing the fierce form of flood. Chamba-Pathankot NH has been closed due to the cracking of the hill near Nalda bridge near Bathri. The wheels of vehicles have stopped on Chamba Pathankot NH, due to which thousands of Mani Mahesh pilgrims and other people are stranded. Due to flood in the drain in Gholti of Chamba, the difficulties of the people living in the locality have increased. At the same time, a kitchen in Hardaspura Minda of Chamba has been damaged due to water entering it.
Due to heavy rainfall, there has been a massive landslide on many main and connecting roads including the Chamba-Bharmaur NH, due to which the movement of vehicles on the roads has been disrupted. The Chamba Bharmour NH is closed due to a heavy landslide near Lahad. On receiving information about the closure of the road, the NH authority sent machinery and workers to restore it. Deputy Commissioner Chamba Mukesh Repswal said that heavy rainfall has been continuing in Chamba district since Sunday morning. In such a situation, people should not step out of their houses unless it is necessary. In case of any kind of disaster, inform the police and administration so that relief and rescue work can be started in time.
