Himachal Pradesh (The Uttam Hindu) : At least ten people have died due to torrential monsoon rains from the night of Monday, June 30, 2025, to Tuesday, July 1, 2025, with at least 34 others reported missing in Mandi district, one of the worst-affected areas in Himachal Pradesh, according to a government report.

In the past 32 hours, separate incidents of cloudbursts and flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed ten more lives across different parts of the state. Rescue and search operations continued at full speed on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. The relentless monsoon has severely impacted Himachal Pradesh, causing several rivers and streams to overflow, disrupting normal life. The state has witnessed 16 cloudburst incidents, three flash floods, and one major landslide recently.

Since the monsoon began on June 20, a total of 17 people have died in rain-related incidents such as flash floods, drowning, and electrocution, while five others have died due to falls from steep rocks, according to the State Emergency Centre.

Districts including Mandi, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kinnaur, Kullu, and Shimla have been particularly hard hit, with significant damage to life and property reported. The heavy rains have caused extensive damage to roads—including national and state highways—bridges, vehicles, and buildings, resulting in losses estimated to be worth crores of rupees.
