Heavy Rains to Lash Himachal for 3 Days, Orange Alert Issued; Flood Warning in Effect

Shimla (The Uttam Hindu): The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh on July 21, 22 and 23. On July 21, an orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places in other districts of the state except Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Kangra, Mandi, Kullu and Sirmaur districts on July 22. Flood warning has also been issued in some areas. Apart from this, heavy rainfall has also been predicted at some places in Mandi and Una on July 20.
However, the weather is expected to remain clear at most places. On Saturday, the day started with bright sunshine in many areas of the state including Shimla, but in the evening, it became cloudy and foggy.
Due to rain and landslides, one national highway and 146 roads are blocked in the state. 94 roads in Mandi district, 33 in Kullu, 9 in Kangra, 6 in Sirmaur, 3 in Una and 1 in Shimla are affected. The Meteorological Department has advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
