Dehradun (The Uttam Hindu): A Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus travelling from Chaupal–Nerwa in Himachal Pradesh to Paonta Sahib met with a serious accident in Uttarakhand on Tuesday morning. The bus went out of control near Kwanu and plunged into a deep gorge. Three passengers died on the spot, while more than 15 people were seriously injured.

According to information, the bus departed from Chaupal depot early in the morning, reached Nerwa, and was proceeding towards Paonta Sahib via the Minas–Kwanu–Haripur route. There were over 30 passengers on board at the time of the incident. The accident reportedly occurred around 10 a.m.

Officials said that near Sudoi Khadd on the Minas–Kwanu–Haripur road, the bus driver attempted to give way to a truck when the road embankment collapsed, causing the bus to lose balance. The vehicle rolled several times before falling into the gorge and landing in the stream below.

Local residents immediately rushed to the spot and began rescue and relief efforts. After receiving information, police teams and SDRF personnel were dispatched to the location. The rescue operation is ongoing, and the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
