Shimla (The Uttam Hindu): The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign at the Luhri Hydroelectric Project (Stage-I) concluded on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Swachh Bharat Diwas. Organized from September 17 to October 2 under the directions of the Ministry of Power and the corporate headquarters, the campaign focused on cleanliness awareness, public participation, reducing plastic use, proper waste management and environmental conservation.

At the closing ceremony, Project Head Er. Jaswant Singh Kapoor honoured cleanliness volunteers for their active participation and appreciated the efforts of the project team. A ‘Waste to Wealth’ competition was also organized for outsourced staff, who showcased creative ways of converting discarded materials and household waste into useful items. Prizes were presented to the winners as well as other participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Kapoor emphasized that cleanliness should not remain limited to a particular campaign or fortnight but should become part of everyday life and personal values. He urged everyone to contribute towards a cleaner and healthier environment by ensuring proper waste disposal, reducing plastic use and promoting environmental conservation.
