Mystical Temple in Himachal Pradesh Where Wishes Come True by Striking Stones

Hamirpur (The Uttam Hindu) : The Mata Tauni Devi Temple, located in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, holds immense spiritual and historical significance. This temple is approximately 350 years old and is revered as the family deity of the Chauhan dynasty. During Navratri, the temple draws large crowds of devotees from morning until evening.
Locals say the temple's history dates back to the Mughal Empire. At that time, some members of the Chauhan clan came to this remote area from Rajasthan to escape conversion and sought refuge in Mata Tauni Devi. This temple was established in memory of their devotion and faith. The temple's unique feature is that devotees strike two stones placed near the Pindi to fulfill their wishes. It is said that Mata Tauni Devi was deaf, so devotees invoke the goddess through the sound of the stones. This practice fulfills their wishes. The temple complex is particularly vibrant during Navratri. Both men and women devotees place their wishes before the goddess by striking the stones. According to temple committee members, this tradition has been going on for hundreds of years, and the Chauhan clan considers it a sign of faith and respect for their family deity.
Locals believe that devotees experience their wishes being fulfilled every time they visit the temple. This temple is not only a religious site but also historically significant. It shows how people maintained their faith and culture even under difficult circumstances during the Mughal Empire. Geographically, the temple is located in the town of Tauni Devi, 14 kilometers from Hamirpur, and is easily accessible from Mandi via Awah Devi National Highway-03. During Navratri, the influx of devotees is so large that people coming from far and wide stand in queues in the temple premises from early morning.
