12 Naxalites, Including 5 Women, Surrender with Bounty of ₹18 Lakh; Shocking Secrets Revealed

Narayanpur (The Uttam Hindu): Security forces achieved another major success on Wednesday in the ongoing campaign against Naxalites. Twelve Naxalites, including five women, surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district. Nine of these Naxalites had a total bounty of 1.8 million rupees (180,000 rupees) declared on their surrender. The surrendered Naxalites cited the Maoist organization's hollow ideology, atrocities against innocent tribals, and growing discrimination within the organization as the main reasons for their surrender.
Narayanpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Robinson Guria said that all of them surrendered before senior police and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officers. Those who surrendered included two key members of the Maoist area committee—Sudaren Netam (41) and Dhoba Salam—who carried a reward of ₹5 lakh each. Two others carried rewards of ₹2 lakh each, three carried ₹1 lakh each, and two others carried ₹50,000 each.
SP Guria said that during interrogation, the surrendered Naxalites revealed the dark truth of the organization. He explained that top Maoist leaders are the real enemies of the tribals. They mislead local youth with false promises of protecting "water, forest, and land," and then exploit them.
He also revealed that local cadres are subject to widespread exploitation, and the situation of female Maoists is even worse. Many senior leaders treat them as their personal slaves, luring them with the promise of a better future in cities or abroad.
The Superintendent of Police stated that all surrendered Naxalites were provided immediate assistance of ₹50,000 under the government's rehabilitation policy. The process of rehabilitating them has also been initiated. According to the police, a total of 177 Naxalites have surrendered and returned to the mainstream in Narayanpur district so far this year.
