BSF and Jammu Kashmir Police recover 2 kg heroin worth ₹12 crore dropped by drone near the international border during a midnight joint search operation.

Jammu (The Uttam Hindu): Security forces have foiled another attempt by Pakistan to smuggle narcotics across the international border in Jammu and Kashmir. During a joint search operation conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police, a major consignment of drugs was recovered. The heroin, which was reportedly dropped using a drone, weighed about 2 kilograms and is estimated to be worth more than ₹12 crore in the international market.
Midnight joint operation by BSF and police
According to security sources, BSF and local police immediately launched an operation after receiving information about suspicious drone activity near the border. The area was cordoned off and an intensive search operation was carried out throughout the night. During the search, security personnel recovered a suspicious packet from agricultural fields in the border area. When the packet was opened, it was found to contain high-quality heroin. Due to the alertness of the security forces, this major attempt of narco-terrorism was successfully foiled.
Drone technology used for smuggling
In recent times, smugglers and terror groups operating across the border have increasingly started using drone technology to transport weapons and narcotics. Officials said the seized heroin was intended to be supplied to interior areas of Kashmir. Police have registered a case against unknown smugglers and are trying to identify the person who was supposed to receive the consignment on this side of the border.
