Dhanbad (The Uttam Hindu): A major accident took place during illegal coal mining in Kesargarh area of Baghmara block in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand. More than 10 workers are feared trapped after a mine caved in near the Shiva temple of BCCL Block 2 late on Tuesday night. According to sources, more than 10 people are reported to have been killed in this accident, but the administration has not yet officially confirmed it.

Social activist Saryu Roy wrote about this accident in an X post, "9 workers died on Tuesday when an illegal mining mine collapsed at a place called Jamunia in Baghmara, Dhanbad." He further wrote in the post, "Illegal mining mafia is busy disposing of the bodies of the dead. I have informed Dhanbad SSP about this. According to eyewitnesses, a mining mafia called Chunchun was carrying out illegal mining under influential protection."

As soon as the news of the accident spread, there was a stir in Kesargarh and surrounding areas. The relatives of the dead and buried workers and the local people rushed towards the spot, but it is alleged that the people of the syndicate associated with the coal mafia stopped them on the way. This has caused great resentment among the angry villagers. People are accusing the administration and the mafia of collusion and are demanding strict action against the culprits.

Villagers say that many accidents have happened earlier also due to illegal mining, but no concrete action was taken. This time's accident has once again exposed the failure of the system. The status of relief and rescue work after the accident is still not clear.

Local people say that the administration did not take immediate action, due to which the chances of saving the workers are decreasing. The villagers have demanded that the rescue work be expedited and strict action be taken against those responsible for the accident.
