Deadly Day on Yamuna Expressway: Twin Accidents Claim 6 Lives, 30+ Injured in Mathura

Mathura (The Uttam Hindu): 6 people died in two separate road accidents on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, while more than 30 people were injured. The condition of many of these passengers is critical. Police and relief teams reached the spot after the accidents. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital. The reason for both the accidents is said to be the drivers falling asleep.
The first accident happened near milestone number 140 in Thana Baldev area, where a speeding Eco car collided with an unknown vehicle. The collision was so severe that 6 people in the car died on the spot, while two others were seriously injured.
According to the information, the people in the car were going from Delhi to Agra. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police reached the spot and took the bodies in their custody and sent them for postmortem. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital. The process of identifying the dead is going on.
The second accident took place near milestone 131 on the Yamuna Expressway, where a passenger bus going from Delhi to Madhya Pradesh suddenly hit a divider and overturned. About 30 passengers were injured in this accident, out of which the condition of 4 people is said to be critical. The passengers in the bus were evacuated with the help of police and local people and the injured were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Mathura SSP Shlok Kumar said that this accident happened due to the Eco car driver falling asleep. The car collided with the vehicle ahead, in which 6 people died on the spot. According to SSP Shlok Kumar, the bus accident also probably happened due to the driver falling asleep.
At present, the police is investigating both the cases and traffic has been normalised at the incident sites. The relatives of the deceased are being informed
