Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): A day after hoax bomb threats were sent to schools in Gujarat, six district courts in the state received similar bomb threat emails on Tuesday, triggering panic among administrative and judicial authorities. Following the alerts, police teams immediately rushed to the court premises and evacuated them as a precautionary measure.

After several hours of intensive searches by bomb disposal squads, no suspicious objects were found at any location. Officials later confirmed that the threats were false.

Claim of 19 bombs inside court premises

According to official sources, the threatening emails were sent to courts in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Valsad, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, and Mehsana.

The emails sent to the Vadodara and Valsad district courts claimed that 19 IED bombs had been planted inside the premises and would explode before afternoon prayers.

The sender also reportedly criticised a judgment delivered by a court in Tamil Nadu. Considering the seriousness of the threat, police evacuated all courtrooms and carried out detailed searches with the help of dog squads.

Police checking link with school threat emails

Due to the bomb threat emails, court proceedings were disrupted throughout the day in all six cities. After thorough checks, the threats were declared hoaxes.

Notably, a day earlier on Monday, around 34 schools in Ahmedabad and Vadodara had received similar bomb threat emails, which also turned out to be false after investigation. Police and cyber crime teams are now analysing IP addresses of the emails to determine whether there is any connection between the threats sent to schools and courts, and to identify those responsible.
