I truly believe that we have the most amazing workforce in the whole world in terms of pilots and crew. Pilots and crew are the backbone of the aviation industry." Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said on the investigation report of the plane crash that he is waiting for the final report.
The conclusion will be reached only after the final report. Meanwhile, he claimed, "The investigation of this accident has been done with complete transparency. This is a preliminary report. The ministry is analyzing the report. It will be right to comment on it only when the final report comes out. We are coordinating with AAIB, we will give them whatever help is needed. AAIB will be the primary investigating agency and we hope that the final report will come soon." On the preliminary report of AAIB, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol said, "This is a preliminary report and the investigation is going on. Aviation expert Mark Martin has given his opinion on the crash of Air India flight AI171. He said that no pilot is so stupid or careless that he tampers with the switches in the middle of the cockpit during takeoff and landing, when the entire focus is on the instruments in front. Mark Martin, CEO of Asia's aviation safety company Martin Consulting, said that takeoff and landing are the most important times for any pilot during a flight. During takeoff, the pilot's entire focus is on the flight instruments and flying the plane manually. Usually, autopilot is engaged after reaching a height of 2 thousand feet. During this time, the pilot's focus is only on controlling the flight.
According to the preliminary report of the AAIB, both fuel control switches supplying fuel to the engines of Air India Flight 171 moved from 'run' to 'cutoff' position one after the other, causing both engines to shut down. According to the investigation report, one pilot is heard asking the other in the cockpit voice recorder why he turned off the fuel, to which the other pilot replies that he did not do so. Martin said that this report will have a global impact on all 787 operators. He said that it is almost impossible that any pilot would want to interfere or tamper with the switches located behind the thrust level, especially during takeoff. At the most, you will focus on raising the landing gear located in the front panel of the cockpit, or raising the flaps. He further said that it is necessary to wait for the full, comprehensive investigation report.
