Air India flight from Colombo to Chennai hit by bird strike, return trip scrapped

Chennai (The Uttam Hindu): A major accident was averted today on an Air India flight from Colombo to Chennai. A bird strike occurred during landing on Tuesday, forcing the airline to cancel its return flight. There were 158 passengers on board at the time of the incident.
According to the airport authority, the plane landed safely at Chennai Airport and all passengers were evacuated. Officials said the bird strike was detected during a post-landing inspection.
Immediately after the incident, the aircraft was grounded and a team of Air India engineers began a detailed inspection. Prioritizing passenger safety, the airline decided to cancel the return flight from Chennai to Colombo.
The airline arranged another flight to accommodate the affected passengers, which later flew 137 passengers to Colombo.
