New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Political activity in Gujarat has intensified ahead of the cabinet expansion under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, scheduled for Friday. On Thursday, all sitting ministers, except CM Bhupendra Patel, submitted their resignations from their posts. This step is reportedly part of preparations for the upcoming cabinet reshuffle.

According to sources, the new cabinet may include around 10 new faces, while nearly half of the current ministers could be replaced. The BJP’s top leadership is working to bring in new leaders and form a team with an eye on the upcoming assembly elections. The cabinet expansion is scheduled for Friday at 11:30 AM.

Currently, the Gujarat cabinet has 17 ministers, including 8 cabinet ministers and 8 ministers of state (MoS), along with the Chief Minister. As per the Constitution, a state with a 182-member assembly can have a maximum of 27 ministers.

In recent political changes, State Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma has been appointed as the new Gujarat BJP president, replacing Union Minister C. R. Patil. This appointment is seen as part of new political calculations, as the party seeks to maintain regional and caste balance in the upcoming cabinet.
