Marshals form security ring around Shah
As the protests grew in Parliament, BJP members, including Union ministers Ravneet Singh Bittu and Kiren Rijiju, approached Shah and there was a brief scuffle between Opposition and ruling party MPs. Three House marshals formed a security ring around Shah. Even after the House was adjourned, Opposition members continued to raise slogans. From the Opposition, Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM, Manish Tewari and KC Venugopal of Congress, N K Premachandran of RSP and Dharmendra Yadav of Samajwadi Party opposed the introduction of the Bills. They also said that the notice of introduction of the Bill was not given to the members seven days in advance as per rules and its copies were also not distributed on time.
Amit Shah introduced three bills in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. One of these bills provides for the removal of the Prime Minister, Union Minister, Chief Minister or Minister of State or Union Territory if arrested or taken into custody for 30 days on serious criminal charges. The opposition accused the Center of being 'bent on creating a police state' through these bills. He said, 'I oppose the introduction of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill 2025, Union Territory Government (Amendment) Bill 2025 and Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill 2025.'
