New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday introduced three important bills in the Lok Sabha, which include strict provisions for the removal of tainted Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers and Ministers from office. According to this proposal, if a Prime Minister, Chief Minister or Minister is arrested on serious charges and remains in jail for 30 days, then on the 31st day he will have to resign or he will be dismissed.

These three Bills introduced by the Home Minister include the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-second Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill.

As soon as Amit Shah tabled these bills in the House, all opposition parties including Congress started a huge uproar, strongly opposing it. The opposition is calling these strict provisions undemocratic.

Amid the opposition uproar, Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that the bill related to the removal of tainted chief ministers, prime ministers and ministers will be sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for discussion. Despite this, the opposition's protest continued in the House.
