New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a three-day visit to Bihar starting Wednesday. During the visit, he will review security measures, administrative preparedness and ongoing development initiatives in the state’s border districts. He is also scheduled to hold meetings with officials regarding areas along the India–Nepal border.
On February 25 at 4 p.m., Shah will arrive in Purnia and then travel by helicopter to Kishanganj. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., he will chair a review meeting at the Collectorate and stay overnight in Kishanganj. On February 26, he will visit Araria, where he will attend a programme at the Letti border outpost at 11 a.m. Later, he will hold a high-level review meeting at the Collectorate with Superintendents of Police and district officials from border areas to assess security issues related to the India–Nepal border.
On the same day, he will also participate in an event under the Vibrant Villages Programme and return to Purnia for the night stay. On February 27, Shah will once again meet officials in Purnia to deliberate on matters concerning border districts. After concluding the final round of review meetings, he will depart for New Delhi.
Officials have completed logistical arrangements and extensive security measures have been put in place ahead of the visit. According to sources, the Seemanchal region is expected to be the main focus of the tour. After the Ministry of Home Affairs’ “Naxal-Mukt Bharat” initiative, this is being viewed as the next major priority, with special emphasis on preventing infiltration in the Seemanchal area.
In recent years, Amit Shah has visited Seemanchal multiple times. During the previous Bihar Assembly elections, he had alleged attempts to create vote banks through illegal migrants in the region and asserted that the NDA government would not permit such practices. He had stated that every infiltrator would be identified and deported, and all illegal activities would be strictly curbed.
