New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has once again summoned Reliance ADA Group Chairman Anil Ambani in connection with an ongoing money laundering case against his group of companies.

According to sources, the financial probe agency will question Ambani on November 14. The development comes shortly after the ED provisionally attached over 132 acres of land worth ₹4,462.81 crore located at Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City in Navi Mumbai under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Earlier, the agency had seized 42 properties worth ₹3,083 crore related to Reliance Communications Ltd (RCom), Reliance Commercial Finance Ltd, and Reliance Home Finance Ltd, in connection with a major bank fraud case. The ED stated that assets worth over ₹7,545 crore have been seized so far, reaffirming its commitment to recovering proceeds of crime and returning them to legitimate claimants.

The investigation began after a CBI FIR was filed against Anil Ambani, RCom, and others under IPC Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 420 (cheating), along with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1989.

As per the CBI’s complaint, between 2010 and 2012, RCom and other group companies had taken large loans from domestic and foreign banks, of which ₹40,185 crore remained unpaid. Subsequently, five banks declared these accounts as fraudulent.

The ED’s investigation revealed that loans obtained by one group entity were allegedly diverted for repayment of loans of other group companies, fund transfers, and mutual fund investments, in violation of loan terms and conditions.
