New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Fans in Kolkata, West Bengal, eager to catch a glimpse of legendary footballer Lionel Messi, erupted in anger when they were denied the chance. After Messi left, angry spectators began throwing chairs and bottles around the stadium. Despite purchasing expensive tickets, fans were disappointed, a reason cited as the so-called VIP culture.

' Arrest Mamata Banerjee…' Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's big statement on the chaos at Messi's event: This matter has also taken a political turn. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, attacking the Mamata Banerjee government, accused it of failure in crowd control. He has demanded the arrest of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He said that being the Home Minister of West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Kolkata Police Commissioner are responsible for this incident and action should be taken against them.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said that while crowds are handled peacefully during large events in other states, a VIP culture prevails in Bengal. He called Messi an inspiration to the entire world and questioned the law and order situation in Bengal.

It is noteworthy that a huge crowd gathered at Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium to see World Cup winner Lionel Messi. During his 20-minute appearance, Messi was surrounded by politicians and officials, preventing the general public from even getting a glimpse of him. The situation then escalated, and police had to use force to control the crowd. Governor CV Ananda Bose later announced that the event organizer had been arrested.
