Baba Ramdev Slams Name Change Linked to Kanwar Yatra, Calls It a 'Wrong Game'

Haridwar (The Uttam Hindu): Yoga guru Swami Ramdev has given his reaction on the controversy of changing the names of dhabas and hotels before the Kanwar Yatra starting next week. He called this practice "practically and religiously wrong" and said that the ancestors of all Muslims are also Hindus, so there is no need to change their names.
Baba Ramdev while talking to media on Sunday said, just like Ramdev is proud of being a Hindu, people of Muslim community should be proud of being a Muslim. The ancestors of all Muslims are Hindus. Therefore there is no point in hiding the name. Names should be disclosed, if someone wishes, he will come to eat food, therefore hiding the name is not right from the point of view of religion, religious status or practical point of view.
He said that everyone should be proud of their respective clan and religion. Muslim brothers should not hide their religion in any way.
Yoga guru Ramdev Baba has also appealed to the Kanwar pilgrims. He said, people carrying Kanwar are true devotees of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is a symbol of purity and one of the greatest deities of Sanatan Dharma is 'Adi Yogi'. Therefore, Shiva devotees should show restraint and patience. If someone is addicted to smoking bidi-cigarettes, drinking alcohol or consuming intoxicants like cannabis, then they should offer all their evils to Lord Bholenath while carrying Kanwar this time. They should take a pledge to live an addiction-free life.
On the 'language controversy', the yoga guru said, if we Hindus fight on the basis of language and different castes, then it affects Hindu unity, national unity and integrity. Therefore, we all should remain united as Indians. National unity and integrity will remain intact only in our unity.
He further said, we have to understand the basic philosophy of Hinduism. We are all children of the same God. Languages may be different, customs may be different and castes and classes may be different, but we have lived by the vision of unity and this is Hinduism. Vedas also say the same.
