Baba Siddiqui Murder Case: Wife Shahzeen Alleges Mumbai Police Is Acting Only for Show

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Shahzeen Siddiqui, wife of slain NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, has accused the Mumbai Police of taking merely symbolic action in the murder case. She has alleged that administrative obstacles are being used to conceal arbitrary conduct, raising concerns over delays that could affect the trial.
Shahzeen’s lawyer, Trivankumar Karnani, said the state government had written to the Centre several times but had yet to receive a response. He warned that the prolonged administrative delay could jeopardise the proceedings. Karnani also questioned the police’s approach, stating that court orders could facilitate interrogation in jail and custody through video conferencing, yet administrative hurdles were still being cited.
Baba Siddiqui was shot dead by three assailants in Mumbai’s Bandra East area on October 12, 2024, outside the office of his son, Zeeshan Siddiqui. He was a former Maharashtra minister and a leader of the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar. The Mumbai Police charge sheet named gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, as a wanted accused in the case. Shahzeen’s allegations come amid renewed scrutiny of the police following the reported attack on actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on September 18, during which his driver and another person were injured in crossfire. A possible link to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has also surfaced in connection with that incident.
