Bharat Taxi rolls out today as government offers low-cost cab service with no surge pricing

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A new government-run cab service, Bharat Taxi, has launched on the streets of the capital Delhi today, directly challenging the long-standing monopoly of private app-based cab companies. This government-backed platform aims to provide affordable, safe, and transparent taxi service to the common passenger. Amidst rising fares, surge pricing, and constant complaints, Bharat Taxi is being seen as a strong alternative.

Bharat Taxi is a government-backed cooperative cab service platform designed to serve the interests of both passengers and drivers. Its mission is to create a reliable and accessible taxi network across the country, starting today in Delhi.

This platform is being billed as the world's largest driver-owned network. In Delhi and Gujarat, more than 51,000 drivers have registered across all three categories: auto, car, and bike. While the service hasn't been rolled out nationwide, it has officially launched in Delhi.

How to download Bharat Taxi App

Booking of Bharat Taxi can be done through Bharat Taxi mobile app. Separate mobile apps for both rider and driver are available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Please note that download only the app which is released by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited. Passengers can download Rider App and drivers wishing to join the service can download Driver App. In the app, passengers will get real time cab tracking, complete driver information and clear fare details before the journey, which will eliminate any confusion.

No surge pricing, transparent fare

The biggest feature of Bharat Taxi is its transparent fare structure. Surge pricing will not be applicable in this, which means passengers will not have to pay arbitrary fare even during peak hours or bad weather. This is the reason why it is being considered as the biggest challenge for private cab companies. According to Sahakar Taxi Cooperative, on this platform the drivers will get the payment made by the passengers directly. It is claimed that the drivers will get more than 80 percent of the fare, due to which their income will increase and they will be able to provide better service without any extra pressure.

Auto, Car and Bike Facility

Passengers will get the facility of all three modes of transport - auto, car and bike taxi on Bharat Taxi app. From short distance to long journey, a single platform will be available for every need, where customers can choose the ride as per their budget and requirement. Passenger safety has been given special priority in Bharat Taxi. Police verification of all drivers will be mandatory. Along with this, facilities like emergency button, live location sharing and trip history have been provided in the app, so that passengers and their families can travel without any worry.
