Bihar MLC election results: Vote counting underway for eight seats, fate of 150 candidates at stake
Vote counting is underway for eight Bihar Legislative Council seats, with the results set to determine the political fate of 150 candidates.

Patna (The Uttam Hindu): Counting of votes for eight Bihar Legislative Council seats began at 8 a.m. on Tuesday following polling on October 23. The results will decide the fate of 150 candidates contesting four graduate and four teacher constituencies. Counting is underway at centres established in divisional headquarters under tight security with observers and officials deployed to monitor the process. The results are expected by evening.
A total of 90 candidates contested the graduate constituencies, while 60 were in the fray for the teacher seats. The Patna Graduate constituency has attracted particular attention because of its political significance and its reported connection to Mokama MLA Anant Singh, who had backed a Jan Suraj-supported candidate. Darbhanga Graduate recorded the highest number of contestants with 40 candidates, while the Patna Teachers' and Saran Teachers' constituencies each had 18 candidates.
Polling for all eight constituencies took place on October 23. The counting process will begin with first-preference votes, followed by second-preference votes if no candidate secures the required quota. The process will continue until winners are determined. The BJP and JD(U) contested four seats each, while the RJD fielded candidates in six constituencies, Congress in five and Jan Suraj in all eight. The results are expected to indicate the electoral standing of the candidates and the influence of political parties in the constituencies.
