Hapur (The Uttam Hindu): A sense of panic spread in the Garhmukteshwar police station area of Hapur district after senior BJP leader and former minister Madan Chauhan was targeted in a suspected life-threatening attack. The incident reportedly took place near Hiranpura village in the Kotwali area. Fortunately, despite the attackers pulling the trigger, the pistol failed to fire, and a major tragedy was narrowly avoided.

According to the police, former minister Madan Chauhan was on his way to attend an engagement ceremony in Hiranpura village. As he approached the village, three to four youths travelling in a white Fortuner SUV suddenly stopped his vehicle. It is alleged that the attackers misbehaved with him and pointed a pistol at him. Madan Chauhan stated that the assailants attempted to open fire, but the bullet did not discharge despite the trigger being pulled.

During the incident, security personnel accompanying him tried to apprehend the attackers, but the accused managed to flee the spot in their Fortuner vehicle.

Written complaint filed, security concerns raised

Following the incident, Madan Chauhan submitted a written complaint at Garhmukteshwar police station, expressing concerns over his safety and demanding enhanced security. It is noteworthy that he has been attacked earlier as well, allegedly by mining mafia elements. Police register case, investigation intensified

Confirming the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police, Hapur, Vineet Bhatnagar, said that information was received regarding misbehaviour and an attempt to attack the former minister during a wedding-related function in Hiranpura village.
