BJP releases Assam election manifesto promising ₹5 lakh crore investment, jobs, flood control, and UCC with exemptions for tribal areas.

Dispur (The Uttam Hindu): The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday released its election manifesto for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, presenting it as a “Sankalp Patra.” The announcement was made at the party’s state office in Guwahati in the presence of Nirmala Sitharaman, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and state president Dilip Saikia.
The manifesto promises to attract investments worth ₹5 lakh crore if the party returns to power. It also includes commitments to curb what it termed “land jihad,” generate 2 lakh jobs, and implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
Key promises and policy focus
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that while implementing the UCC, areas under the Sixth Schedule and tribal regions will be kept outside its purview. He also assured strict action against “love jihad” and reiterated the government’s commitment to making Assam flood-free.
The manifesto states that ₹18,000 crore will be spent on flood control measures within the first two years of forming the government. Additionally, the party plans to expand its “One District, One Medical College, One University, One Engineering College” initiative.
Public input in manifesto preparation
State BJP president Dilip Saikia said that the party aims to build a “secure and developed Assam.” He added that around 2.45 lakh suggestions from across the state were incorporated while drafting the manifesto.
