New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will have a new national president on January 20th. The party issued an official notification on Friday. According to the notification, the nomination process will be completed on January 19th, while the name of the new national president will be announced on January 20th.

Currently, Nitin Nabin is the party's acting national president and is expected to be elected unopposed. According to sources, Nitin Nabin will file his nomination on January 19th. He was appointed the party's acting president on December 14, 2025.

The BJP appointed JP Nadda as its national president in 2020. His term ended in 2024, after which he was extended. Currently, JP Nadda serves as the Union Minister of Health.

National Returning Officer Releases Election Schedule

BJP's National Returning Officer, K. Laxman, released the schedule for the party president election. According to the schedule, nominations will be filed on January 19th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the same day. If necessary, voting will be held on January 20th, and the new national president will be formally announced that day. The entire election process will take place at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.

Nitin Nabin, currently 45, is the BJP's acting national president. If elected national president, he would become the youngest national president in the party's history.

Youth will get a prominent place in the new BJP team

Major changes are being prepared in the BJP organization under the leadership of Nitin Navin. According to sources, about 80 percent of the responsibilities in the new national team are likely to be given to the youth. Although it may take about six months to form the entire team, it is believed that leaders below 50 years of age will get priority for the posts of General Secretary, Secretary and other key posts. The organizational structure will be prepared afresh keeping in mind the assembly elections of five states to be held next year.
