Amreli (Uttam Hindu News): A madrasa being run by a Maulana in Amreli district of Gujarat was demolished with a bulldozer after his 'Pakistani links' came to light. According to the police, this action was taken after several WhatsApp groups with Pakistani connections were found on the phone of Maulana Mohammad Fazal Abdul Aziz Sheikh.

Amreli DSP PR Rathore said that the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)'s investigation found that the madrasa did not have the necessary documents. The operator failed to prove the ownership of the land on which the madrasa was built and the legality of the construction. After this, the administration considered the madrasa building illegal and decided to demolish it.

A large number of security forces were deployed on the spot to avoid any untoward incident during the operation. According to the police, they did not face any resistance.

It is worth noting that after the Pahalgam terror attack, Gujarat Police had detained this suspected Maulana from Amreli. During interrogation, 7 suspicious Pakistani and Afghan WhatsApp groups were found in his mobile phone, which revealed his Pakistani connection. Police is now questioning the Maulana in detail to find out with whom he was in contact in Pakistan and what were his intentions.

Maulana Mohammad Fazal Abdul Aziz Sheikh is said to be originally from Ahmedabad and was running a madrasa in Amreli. In this case, a case has been registered against the Maulana at the Dhari police station and further investigation is being carried out.
