New York (The Uttam Hindu): Five people have died in a tour bus accident in New York state of America. New York State Police gave this information. According to the report, the accident took place on Interstate 90 in Pembroke, Genesee County, when the bus carrying more than 50 passengers was returning from Niagara Falls to New York City on Friday.

"At this time, we have reports of multiple deaths, multiple people trapped and multiple people injured," New York State Police spokesman James O'Callaghan said. The total number of deaths and injuries was still being determined, he said. The accident occurred when the bus driver lost control at "full speed" and every passenger on the bus suffered injuries.

Police said some people were thrown out of the vehicle at the time of the accident and most were not believed to be wearing seat belts. The bus was "severely damaged"; several passengers were ejected at the time of the accident, but the driver was "alive and unharmed".

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said on 'X' that she has been briefed on the 'tragic tour bus accident.' She added that her team is coordinating with state police and local authorities who are working to 'rescue and provide assistance to all involved.'

Nonprofit air medical transport service provider Mercy Flight said three of its helicopters were transporting people from the crash site to regional hospitals.
