Chitradurga (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic road accident occurred in Karnataka's Chitradurga district. A lorry and a private bus collided head-on on National Highway 48, causing a massive fire. Ten passengers were burned to death and 22 others were injured.


Tragic accident: Bus turns into a ball of fire after collision with lorry, 10 passengers burnt alive, 22 injured: The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Hiriyur and Chitradurga, where the condition of some is said to be critical. This private sleeper bus was going from Bengaluru to Shivamogga and a total of 32 passengers were on board. According to preliminary information, the driver of the lorry going from Hiriyur to Bengaluru crossed the divider carelessly, due to which it collided with the bus coming from the front. Immediately after the collision, the bus caught fire and the fire spread so fast that many passengers could not get out.


A video of the accident has also surfaced, showing the bus engulfed in flames and locals gathered nearby. Rescue and relief operations began immediately.


The bus driver is injured and is being treated in a hospital. Conductor Mohammad Salim suffered minor injuries. He said he was sleeping at the time of the accident. Suddenly, there was a loud noise, the window shattered, and he fell out of the bus. Locals rushed him to the hospital. Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident. Initially, it is being considered a case of negligence.
