New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Indian cricket captain Shubman Gill continued his brilliant form in Test cricket, scoring a magnificent century on Saturday (11 October) during the second day of the Delhi Test against West Indies. This marked his 10th Test century and his 5th century as captain in just 12 innings.

Gill reached his century in India’s first innings during the 130th over, facing 176 balls and hitting 13 fours and 1 six. With this stellar innings, he became India’s highest run-scorer and century-maker in World Test Championship (WTC) history.

This century also made Gill the first Indian batsman to score 10 centuries in WTC, surpassing former captain Rohit Sharma, who has 9 centuries. Additionally, Gill now holds the record for most runs by an Indian in WTC history.

As captain, Gill has scored 5 Test centuries this year, becoming the second Indian captain after Virat Kohli to achieve this in a calendar year. Kohli had accomplished this feat in 2017 and 2018.
