Cbse QR code row: Board reveals truth behind wrong link claims
Cbse clarified that qr codes on question papers are working properly and denied claims of linking errors.

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Ahead of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams, significant news has emerged. Misinformation regarding the QR codes printed on question papers was spreading rapidly on the internet and social media. Putting an end to these rumors, the board issued a crucial advisory on Thursday. In this official advisory, the board clarified the true purpose of these codes and why they were printed on the exam papers.
Not an internet link, but part of the internal system
There was a rumor among many that this code was an internet hyperlink, which, when scanned, would open a specific website. However, the CBSE clarified in its advisory that these QR codes were not designed to connect directly to the internet. According to the board, these codes are an important part of the internal system for authentication, paper tracking, and maintaining examination integrity. When someone scans them, they do not open as a web link, but only display the text encoded within.
The board gave this important information regarding Google search
The board has also explained in detail the technical issues that arise during scanning. CBSE says that when a user directly uses Google Search on the scanned text, sometimes the Google search engine starts showing some other words or results similar to that text. This is causing confusion among the people. However, the board has also clarified that this does not happen at all when using the code on any standard web browser like Google Chrome. The board has advised all students and parents not to panic unnecessarily and not to pay attention to such misleading information spreading on social media.
