Chhattisgarh Tragedy: Five Killed as Wedding-Party Scorpio Crashes Into Speeding Truck

Raipur (The Uttam Hindu): A severe road accident took place late last night on NH-49 near Sukli village in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district. A Scorpio carrying members of a wedding party was returning to Navagarh when it collided head-on with a speeding truck. The crash was so intense that the vehicle was completely crushed.

Five passengers in the Scorpio lost their lives, three died on the spot, while two others passed away during treatment in the hospital. Three more passengers were seriously injured and have been referred to Bilaspur for advanced medical care.

According to officials, two of the deceased were serving Army soldiers, and one of them had been married only recently. All victims belonged to the same neighbourhood in Navagarh, leaving the entire locality in deep mourning.

After the collision, the truck driver fled the scene. Police have registered a case and begun a search for the absconding driver. Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding and negligence were the primary causes of the accident.
