Cold wave ahead! Fresh snowfall in the hills, rain forecast for north Indian plains

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Winter has arrived in the country. Several states are experiencing mild chills in the morning and evening. Meanwhile, a western disturbance has reactivated, and its effects may be felt in western India on November 4th and 5th. Snowfall in the mountainous regions is expected to increase the cold in the plains as well.


The weather will change! Snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will increase the cold, with rain expected in Punjab and Haryana: The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in Punjab and Haryana in the next two days. At the same time, a warning of light rain and snowfall has been issued in the high altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Apart from the hilly states, a yellow alert for rain has also been issued in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Andaman-Nicobar. There is a possibility of thunder and lightning along with light rain in these areas.


Delhi is also experiencing a chill. A slight fog and mist are expected in the morning, followed by sunny days, while the temperature may drop in the evening, increasing the chill. According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi's temperature is expected to range between 13 and 30 degrees Celsius between November 5th and 9th. Air quality will remain poor during this period.


Heavy rain warnings have also been issued for the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Thunderstorms are expected in parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra on November 5th. Following the impact of Cyclone Montha, the weather in Uttar Pradesh has cleared. Light fog and mist will be seen in the morning, but no rain is expected in the state for the next week. However, the effects of the mountainous weather may be visible in the form of a drop in temperatures.


The impact of Cyclone Montha continues in Bihar. The Meteorological Department has forecast light rain and thunderstorms in Patna, Gaya, Motihari, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia, Supaul and Madhepura over the next 24 hours. After November 4th, temperatures are expected to drop, leading to increased cold.
