Congress cracks whip: 43 Bihar leaders face axe over anti-party activities, face 6-year expulsion

Patna (The Uttam Hindu): As the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections neared completion, the Congress party has begun cracking down on leaders accused of "infighting" and indiscipline. The state Congress Disciplinary Committee has issued show-cause notices to 43 senior leaders, including former ministers and former MLAs, for engaging in anti-party activities during the elections.
The party has accused these leaders of making statements in the media and on public platforms during the elections that deviated from the official line of the party, which caused huge damage to the party's image and electoral performance.
Taking a tough stand, State Congress Disciplinary Committee Chairman Kapildev Prasad Yadav has directed all the accused leaders to submit their written explanation before the committee by 12 noon on November 21, 2025 .
He clearly warned that if a response is not received within the stipulated timeframe, the disciplinary committee will be forced to take strict action, including expulsion from primary party membership for six years.
