Cylinder Blast Sparks Blaze in 4-Storey Building; Over 100 Trapped for Hours

Noida (The Uttam Hindu) : A potentially devastating accident was narrowly avoided in Lane No. 1 of Naya Gaon, Noida, when a gas cylinder explosion triggered a massive fire in a residential building late Tuesday night. Around 100 people were trapped inside the structure, but thanks to the swift response of the fire brigade, all were rescued safely, and no casualties were reported.
Fire Broke Out After Cylinder Blast, Prompt Response Saved Lives
The incident occurred around 11:30 PM when a cylinder exploded on the first floor of the house while cooking was underway. The blast led to a major fire, and thick smoke quickly engulfed the entire building, trapping around 100 residents, some of whom were asleep at the time.
Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar confirmed that the emergency call was received at 11:30 PM, and within just eight minutes, the fire brigade team had reached the scene. A rapid rescue operation was launched, and within an hour, all residents were safely evacuated.
Hydraulic Platform Played a Critical Role
Six fire tenders were deployed, along with a hydraulic platform that played a crucial role in controlling the blaze. Due to the building's height, regular fire vehicles could not reach the upper floors directly, but the hydraulic platform allowed firefighters to access the flames and extinguish the fire efficiently.
Fire Fully Doused by Wednesday Morning
Officials stated that the timely action of the fire brigade prevented a major disaster. By Wednesday morning, the fire was completely brought under control. The building, heavily filled with smoke after the explosion, was cleared out, and the situation stabilized.
Investigation Confirms Cause of Fire
Preliminary investigations confirmed that the explosion was caused by a cooking gas cylinder on the first floor. The sudden blast startled residents and filled the building with smoke, but fire personnel quickly alerted and evacuated everyone.
This incident underscores the importance of adhering to strict safety protocols when handling gas cylinders in residential areas. Thanks to the prompt response and coordinated efforts of the emergency teams, a major tragedy was avoided.
