Defence ministry clears ₹79,000 crore procurement to boost military power

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – The central government has taken a major step toward strengthening the nation's security and self-reliance . The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh , approved defense deals worth approximately ₹ 79,000 crore . This decision will significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the three services: the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force , and will provide new impetus to the goal of a "self-reliant India."


Army to get new missile and surveillance power

The procurement of Nag Missile System MK-II , Ground Based Mobile Electronic Intelligence System and High Mobility Vehicles for the Army has been approved.


The Nag Missile System Mk-II is capable of destroying enemy tanks and fortified positions with pinpoint accuracy.

With the ground based intelligence system, the army will be able to monitor the enemy's radio waves and electronic activities 24 hours a day.

At the same time, high mobility vehicles will play a big role in delivering logistics and heavy equipment in difficult areas.

The naval power will be strengthened

Procurement of Landing Platform Docks , 30 mm Naval Surface Gun , Advanced Light Weight Torpedo , Electro-Optical Infrared Search and Track System and Smart Ammunition for the Indian Navy has been approved.


These systems will significantly improve the Navy's amphibious warfare and maritime surveillance capabilities .

Landing platform docks will enable joint operations with the Army and Air Force.

The advanced torpedo has been developed by DRDO, which can accurately target enemy submarines.

Air Force to get state-of-the-art attack system

The procurement of the Collaborative Long Range Target Saturation/Destruction System and several other advanced weapon systems has been approved for the Air Force .

These systems, capable of automated takeoff, landing, and precision strike , will significantly improve the Air Force's strategic strike capability and accuracy .


Decisive step towards self-reliant India

The Ministry of Defense stated that all these projects will modernize the country's military capabilities and boost the indigenous defense industry . Most of the systems will be manufactured in India , furthering the "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" missions. Defense experts say this approval will significantly expand the capabilities of the three armed forces, enabling India to respond to any situation with full military preparedness .


Navy gets its first indigenous anti-submarine warship 'Mahe'

Meanwhile, Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has handed over the first indigenously built anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft 'Mahe' to the Indian Navy. This is the first ship in the series of eight ships, which was formally handed over to the Navy in Kochi . The MoU was signed between CSL Director Dr. S. Harikrishnan and 'Mahe' Commanding Officer Commander Amit Chandra Choubey . Senior Navy and shipyard officials including Rear Admiral R. Adhisrinivasan , Commodore Anup Menon were present at the ceremony.
