New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): A dramatic encounter unfolded on Shah Alam Road in the Jahangirpuri area of Delhi when the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the North West District engaged in a shootout with a wanted criminal, Nitin alias ‘Chor’, who was on the run in an attempt to murder (IPC 307) case.

According to police, AATS Inspector Jitendra Tiwari and Sub-Inspector Ravi had received a tip-off about Nitin's location. As the team closed in, the accused opened fire on the police. In retaliatory action, ASI Vinod fired two rounds, one of which hit the accused in the leg, injuring him.

During the exchange, Constable Dolly narrowly escaped death as a bullet hit her bulletproof jacket, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement during such operations.

The injured accused was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police also recovered a country-made pistol (desi katta) and a motorcycle from the criminal.

Authorities confirmed that Nitin was wanted in several criminal cases, and his arrest is expected to bring relief to the local community by reducing ongoing illegal activities in the region. This incident sends a clear message of zero tolerance towards criminals in the capital. It also reflects Delhi Police’s swift response and high alertness in handling hardened offenders on the streets.
