Mega Reward Scheme – Olympic Medalists to Get Crores and a Secure Government Job
New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): In a historic move to boost sports culture, the Delhi government has announced a massive hike in cash rewards and job benefits for athletes who win medals at the Olympic Games. Under the Mukhyamantri Khel Protsahan Yojana, medal winners will now receive several times more financial incentives along with assured government jobs.
Announcing the decision at a press conference, Delhi minister Ashish Sood said that any athlete from Delhi who wins a Gold Medal at the Olympics will now be awarded ₹7 crore. Silver medalists will receive ₹5 crore, while Bronze medal winners will get ₹3 crore as a token of honor and encouragement.
Apart from the hefty cash rewards, the medalists will also be given government jobs. “Gold and Silver medalists will be offered Group ‘A’ government posts, while Bronze medal winners will be appointed in Group ‘B’ posts under the Delhi government,” said Ashish Sood.
He further informed that this decision was taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, aiming to inspire a new generation of athletes to excel at the highest level.
Earlier, Delhi government used to give ₹3 crore for Gold, ₹2 crore for Silver, and ₹1 crore for Bronze medals in Olympic and Paralympic Games. The latest revision significantly increases the financial support for athletes, making it one of the highest reward structures in the country. This move is expected to not only motivate existing athletes but also encourage young talent to pursue sports more seriously, with the assurance of both financial stability and career opportunities.
