Delhi to Meerut in minutes as Narendra Modi to inaugurate full NaMo Bharat Corridor on February 22

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The journey from the national capital Delhi to Meerut is about to become even faster and more pleasant. On February 22nd, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grandly inaugurate the remaining section of the 82-kilometer-long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut "Namo Bharat Corridor." With this much-awaited inauguration, the entire route from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut will be opened to passengers. Along with this, another major gift is also on the way: PM Modi will flag off the 23-kilometer-long, 13-station Meerut Metro. This will significantly boost connectivity in and around the city.
The high-speed rapid rail will pass through these major stations.
The 5-kilometer stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and the 21-kilometer stretch from Meerut South to Modipuram has been fully completed and is now ready to welcome passengers. This high-speed corridor, considered the backbone of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), connects key residential and commercial areas such as Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, and Meerut South. According to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), 55 kilometers of this corridor is already open to the public, offering excellent service between 11 stations. The opening of the entire route on February 22nd will significantly save time and make travel more comfortable for millions of daily commuters not only in Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, but also in Faridabad, Gurugram, and Noida.
The confluence of Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat has reduced the distance between Delhi and Meerut. Running at a speed of 120 km per hour, this metro will cover the distance between Meerut South and Modipuram in a fraction of the time. Meanwhile, the journey from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Meerut will now take just 55 minutes.
The real estate sector has seen a huge boost due to the speed of the Rapid Rail.
The Namo Bharat Corridor has not only eased transportation but also boosted the economy and property market along the route. The NCRTC has emphasized the surge in real estate activity along the corridor, particularly in Meerut, Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar. Within the last two years, land prices within a two-kilometer radius of the Namo Bharat stations have increased significantly, ranging from 30 to 67 percent. Land in Meerut, which previously cost between ₹8,000 and ₹12,000 per square yard, has now skyrocketed to ₹12,000 and ₹20,000 per square yard. Given this excellent connectivity and growing demand, several major builders have begun rapidly announcing new projects in the area.
