Dispute erupts in Jaipur over removal of stones outside mosque, police team pelted with stones; internet services suspended

Jaipur (The Uttam Hindu): A violent incident involving stone-pelting was reported in Jaipur’s Chomu area after a dispute broke out over the removal of stones lying outside a mosque. Members of the Muslim community allegedly attacked the police team with stones, prompting authorities to use tear gas shells and baton charge to bring the situation under control.
According to officials, stones were lying near a mosque close to the bus stand and were being removed with the consent of the local Muslim community. However, tensions escalated suddenly when a group of people began protesting the move. Soon, a large crowd gathered and started raising slogans against the police and administration.
The situation quickly turned violent as the crowd began pelting stones at the police team. During the unrest, miscreants also hurled bottles at security personnel. To control the escalating violence, police resorted to tear gas and lathi charge.
Police officials stated that the situation is currently under control, and a heavy police force has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. Considering the tense atmosphere, internet services in Chomu have been suspended for 24 hours as a precautionary measure.
Authorities are using CCTV footage to identify and trace those involved in the violence, and further investigation is underway.
