New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): There is uproar in the Parliament on the issue of American tariff. The opposition is raising questions on America imposing 25% tariff on India. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal responded to this in the Lok Sabha today. Goyal said that bilateral talks are going on with America on the issue of tariff. We are assessing the current situation.


Piyush Goyal said that our exports are increasing continuously. India is moving ahead with confidence. He said that today India is among the top 5 economies. India is moving towards self-reliance. Goyal also said that the Modi government gives utmost importance to the protection and promotion of all stakeholders of farmers, workers, entrepreneurs, exporters, MSMEs and industry. He said that the effects of recent developments are being assessed. Goyal said that the government gives utmost importance to the protection and promotion of our farmers, workers, entrepreneurs, exporters, MSMEs and all stakeholders of industry. We will take all necessary steps to secure and advance our national interests.


Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that the government is seriously reviewing the 25 percent tariff imposed by the US. He also said that four rounds of talks have taken place between India and the US so far. The government will take every necessary step to protect India's national interests. He said that we were working for the development of our farmers even before and will continue to do so in the future. He emphasized that in less than a decade, India has emerged from one of the five weak economies to become a major economy and one of the five largest economies in the world. He said that it is also expected that India will become the third largest economy in a few years. Goyal said that trade agreements have been made with UAE, Britain, Australia. We are committed to similar agreements with other countries.
