Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): The Election Commission has issued important instructions for submitting online counting forms as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the electoral roll. According to the notification, a voter's online counting form will now be accepted only if their voter ID card is linked to a mobile number or email ID.

The Election Commission has clarified that online forms cannot be submitted if the linking is not in place. To submit the form, you must first enter your registered mobile number, followed by a one-time password (OTP). Voters will be able to log in to the Election Commission's website and submit their forms using this OTP. This process began last Friday.

The Election Commission has also announced strict action against booth-level officers (BLOs) who fail to distribute forms door-to-door. The Commission has directed that BLOs who fail to distribute forms on time will be issued show-cause notices. This action was taken specifically in response to complaints in Bengal that forms were being distributed on the roadside, at Trinamool Congress offices, or at leaders' homes.

Experts believe this move is crucial to verifying voter lists and ensuring transparency in the election process. The Commission's new system will increase accountability and responsibility for both voters and officials.
