This move means that if a citizen’s name appears on the voter list in one state (like Bihar), they can now use that verified record to facilitate voter registration or verification in another state (like West Bengal).

The step is part of the Election Commission’s broader effort to simplify the voter registration process and ensure that migrants and inter-state workers do not lose their voting rights when they move to another state. The new rule is expected to benefit thousands of people who frequently relocate for work or education.
