ED cracks down on nationwide job scam: Raids 15 cities, targets fake Railway, Court jobs

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has created a stir by carrying out a major operation across the country since Thursday morning. In connection with the investigation of a big scam going on in the name of providing government jobs, the investigating agency has started simultaneous raids in 15 cities of 6 states of the country. This action is being taken against an organized gang which was cheating people by giving false promises of getting jobs in about 40 government departments including Indian Railways and Postal Department. The masterminds who were siphoning off crores of rupees by issuing fake appointment letters and call letters are on the radar of ED.
The investigation revealed a highly cunning modus operandi of this gang. The fraudsters had created fake email addresses in the name of departments such as the Railways, Forest Department, Tax Department, High Court, PWD, Bihar Government, and Rajasthan Secretariat, all of which appeared completely official. Most shockingly, to gain the victim's trust, the gang initially transferred money to their bank accounts as "salary" for two to three months. This scheme was being used for positions such as RPF, TTE, and technician, making it easy for people to fall into their trap.
Currently, ED teams are conducting extensive searches in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Kerala. In Uttar Pradesh, raids have been conducted at two locations in Gorakhpur, as well as one each in Allahabad and Lucknow. Meanwhile, operations are underway at one location in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, and two locations in Motihari. ED officials are also scrutinizing documents at two locations in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, and in Chennai, Rajkot, and four cities in Kerala to uncover the roots of this entire syndicate.
