New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has launched a sharp attack on the central government over the FIR registered into the alleged circulation of former Army chief General M.M. Naravane’s unpublished book. Presenting an old social media post of General Naravane before the media, Rahul Gandhi questioned the stand taken by the government and the publisher.
Rahul Gandhi said that in an earlier post, General Naravane himself had stated that his book was available and had even shared a purchase link. In such a situation, he said, it is difficult to accept the claim that the book was never published.
‘Either Naravane or the publisher is wrong’
Rahul Gandhi remarked, “Either General Naravane is lying or the publisher is giving false information. I do not believe that a former Army chief would lie.” He pointed out that while the publisher claims the book was not published, it was reportedly available on online platforms. He questioned why an FIR was registered if the book was already accessible publicly and promotional posts existed.
Allegation of an inconvenient truth for the government
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the book may contain content uncomfortable for the government and the Prime Minister, which is why the controversy has been created. He said the country must now decide whether to trust the statement of the former Army chief or the claims made by the publisher.
Questions raised over FIR probe
It is notable that an FIR has been registered over the alleged circulation of General M.M. Naravane’s unpublished book, and an investigation is currently underway. The issue has intensified debate in political and administrative circles.
