Hyderabad (The Uttam Hindu): The Telangana government is planning strict measures against government employees who neglect the care of their elderly parents. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that a bill will be introduced in the upcoming budget session proposing a salary deduction of 10 to 15 percent for employees found failing to support their parents. The deducted amount would be transferred directly into the bank accounts of the parents. He said the proposal aims to ensure that employees fulfill their responsibilities towards those who supported them through their education and careers.
Speaking at the conclusion of a training programme for newly appointed Group 1 and Group 2 officers, the Chief Minister emphasized that young officers have achieved their positions largely due to the sacrifices of their parents and must show respect and care in return. He stated that the government intends to bring clear legal provisions in the Assembly to implement the proposed system of salary deductions.
The Chief Minister also spoke about plans to enhance administrative training through collaboration between the MCR HRD Institute and Harvard University. Under the proposed partnership, Harvard faculty members are expected to provide executive training programmes in Hyderabad, possibly before the state’s Foundation Day on June 2. He encouraged young officers to remain honest, committed and sensitive throughout their careers and urged them to challenge the common perception that dedication declines with experience.
